The client gives input into design or style, that is just a starting point and inspiration. The end result is my interpretation and style that the clay and form has led me to.
Depending on the item commission pieces typically take 2-4 months
Glaze/colors are dependent on what is being requested if a specific color/tone is essential to the item aesthetic. Otherwise it’s left to my discretion. If a food safe glaze is needed for the function of the item that will dictate what is available.
Design Consultation begins by contacting me through email or messenger with a description of what you wish to have me create for you. Please include as much information as possible and any inspiration images you may have. If you were inspired by one of my works please include that and what called to you the most about that piece. From there we will discuss clay type, colors, item form, style, size, inspirations and function.
I will not copy another ceramicist/potter’s work.
I will rarely use another artist’s work for inspiration. When I do it will not be a copy of that work on “a plate” it will be me inspired by that piece to create an item.
I will communicate with you through the making process with pictures and information, upon request up until the piece is finished. Many clients enjoy having the making process documented.
Payment
Because I will be allowing the creative process to inspire an unique to you item, I do not quote a set price beforehand. We will discuss a price range with an agreed upon cap.
Expect commissions to cost 40-60% higher than items of similar size design that I have for sale.
A 50% non-refundable deposit will be required for any commission work to begin.
The remainder of the payment is due upon the piece completion.
Quotes do not include shipping or delivery, unless that has been negotiated beforehand.
